The Tire as Iconic Symbolism in Art and Art in Motion.
When viewing the tire many images come to mind. For me the beauty lies in the pattern of the tread. The very process for wich tread pattern is designed could be what one calls an "ART". Its the melding of man made design and inherant natural process. When the tire bites into snow for instance, the tread bares its mark and in itself is creating art. Granted there are some who will see this as merely pattern embossing. When one is truly in tune with artistic visions and aware of the process of art, there is no denying that this function would be artistic. In my piece Tread Visions I wanted to focus on the beauty of the tread and that by the combination of pattern and process unique images can be found. The piece Secular Rotation comes from the idea of specific areas of the tread being brought into view while the entire image is in constant motion. Creating a whirling dervish of tread pattern. This image would make a interisting animation and would probly best convey the idea. Again focusing on the tread the piece
Enhanced Traction was to give the feel of stability through symetry. When working with the tread as subject matter or parts of the image it opend up a entire realm of possible works and I look forward to doing more based on this concept.
